What the written rationale covers
- Product identity, intended use, supplied composition and declared concentration ranges.
- Applicable US OSHA HazCom/GHS classification criteria, with source versions identified.
- Ingredient-level evidence and available supplier SDSs, including unresolved data gaps.
- Mixture classification method, thresholds, bridging principles or calculation basis where applicable.
- Hazard-class-by-hazard-class conclusions with reasoning and limitations.
- A clear summary supporting the classification represented in the finished-product SDS.
Where this service helps
Typical requests involve household cleaners, surfactant blends, fragrance products, lubricants or other formulated mixtures where mixture-level hazards cannot simply be copied from a single ingredient SDS. The final analysis depends on the actual formulation, reliable data and the applicable hazard classes.
How the assessment works
- Submit the product details: share the formulation, ingredients/CAS numbers, concentrations, available supplier SDSs and relevant test data.
- Check evidence: review chemical identities, hazard data reliability and missing information.
- Evaluate criteria: apply relevant classification rules by hazard class and record the technical justification.
- Deliver the report: provide the written rationale in PDF form, including assumptions and limitations.
What we need from you
For the strongest assessment, provide the full ingredient list, CAS identifiers, exact concentrations or appropriately documented concentration ranges, physical form, intended market and use, supplier hazard data and any relevant test results. Where data are insufficient, the report will identify the limitation rather than claim certainty.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a Safety Data Sheet?
No. A Safety Data Sheet communicates safety and hazard information in 16 sections. The rationale documents the evidence and reasoning behind specific classification decisions.
Does the $150 price include a new SDS?
No. A new SDS and the written rationale are separately scoped services. Standard SDS authoring starts at $99 per SDS.
Does the rationale guarantee marketplace approval?
No. Marketplaces may impose additional document and product eligibility requirements. The report supports hazard classification review but does not guarantee acceptance.
Will the report contain laboratory test results?
Only if you provide relevant, valid test data. New laboratory testing is not included in this service.
