Pharmaceutical grade does not by itself determine the SDS. Identity, purity, particle form, impurities and residual solvents must match the material supplied.

Try the Free MSDS Draft Generator →Why should you identify the excipient and grade?
Pharmaceutical excipients include fillers, binders, disintegrants, lubricants, coatings, preservatives, solvents, surfactants and carriers. The SDS should identify the exact substance or mixture, grade, physical form and impurity or residual-solvent information relevant to handling.
Why is Regulatory use different from the SDS conclusion?
The FDA Inactive Ingredient Database provides information on inactive ingredients used in approved drug products. It does not replace a product-specific SDS. In India, pharmaceutical manufacture and supply are governed separately through the Drugs Rules maintained by CDSCO.
What should be provided?
- Chemical identity, CAS number and grade.
- Purity and reliable impurity ranges.
- Powder, granule, liquid or solution form.
- Particle size, dust, pH, solubility or flash point where relevant.
- Residual solvent and moisture information.
- CoA, specification, supplier SDS and intended route or dosage-form use.
When grades may need separate SDS files?
| Difference | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Particle size | May change dust generation and handling controls. |
| Residual solvents | May change volatility or flammability. |
| Purity and impurities | Can affect classification and exposure information. |
| Solution versus powder | Changes physical properties and exposure route. |
What should the Pharma Excipient MSDS Certificate SDS contain?
The official 16-section SDS format covers identity, hazards, composition, first aid, handling, exposure controls and other information.
How much does Pharma Excipient MSDS Certificate cost?
| Requirement | Price |
|---|---|
| 1 certificate | ₹3,999 |
| 2 certificates | ₹6,999 |
| 3 or more certificates | Negotiable |
Different substances, mixtures, grades or physical forms may require separate certificates.

Which official references support this guide?
These references support the general SDS structure and the product-specific points cited above. The finished document must still be based on the actual formulation, physical data and intended market.
