What actually changes inside this category

Two products can share a shelf and still need very different documents. Here's what drives that inside Perfume & Fragrance.

Classification

Most fragrance goes in as a Flammable Liquid.

Perfumes and fragrance oils are usually carried in ethanol or IPA at a concentration high enough that the finished product itself classifies as flammable — not just the raw alcohol.

Disclosure

Allergens aren’t optional past a threshold.

Fragrance compositions can contain any of the 26 IFRA-listed allergens, which must be named once they cross a concentration limit — a detail that has to come from your formulation, not the product name.

FAQ

Questions specific to this category

Most finished fragrance products carry a high percentage of ethanol or isopropyl alcohol as the solvent base. At typical concentrations this crosses the GHS flash-point threshold for a Flammable Liquid, regardless of how the scent itself is perceived by the user.

Not the full formula — but any of the internationally recognised fragrance allergens present above the disclosure threshold does need to be identified. This comes from your formulation data, so it helps to have that on hand when you request the SDS.
