Why does the car perfume format matter?

How is car perfume transport information reviewed?
Transport classification is not selected from the marketing name alone. It should consider the product’s primary function, formulation, measured or reliable physical properties, package type, quantity and the rules applying to the chosen transport mode.
- Flammable liquid perfumery products: UN 1266 may be relevant where the finished product is genuinely a perfumery product and meets the applicable flammable-liquid criteria. It is not an automatic entry for every car fragrance.
- Pressurised aerosol sprays: an aerosol may require review under UN 1950 and the relevant hazard division, depending on the contents and aerosol definition.
- Gels, vent clips and scented cards: these formats should be assessed on their actual properties. They should not inherit the transport classification of a liquid perfume merely because they have a fragrance.
