Flat $120 SDS authoring · 24–48-hour delivery
Standard SDS authoring
USD $120 flat fee
24–48 hours
Per defined product and finished formulation, for standard English-language SDS authoring.
What the fee covers
Product-specific SDS
Defined 16-section document
Based on the technical information supplied for the finished product and its intended destination.
The standard 24–48-hour turnaround begins after complete product information is received and the authoring scope is confirmed. Additional laboratory testing, translations, regulatory localization or distinct formulations require separately agreed scopes. Marketplace acceptance is decided by the platform.
A fragrance oil SDS describes the actual supplied fragrance blend or concentrate. It is not replaced by an IFRA conformity certificate, Certificate of Analysis or the SDS of a downstream product that uses the fragrance at a different concentration.
First identify whether the SKU is a fragrance concentrate or a finished blend
“Fragrance oil” is a trade description, not a single chemical identity. A 100% proprietary fragrance concentrate supplied to a soapmaker can differ substantially from an oil diluted in a neutral carrier and marketed as ready to use. A third product may be an alcohol-containing fragrance liquid. The SDS classification must be tied to the as-supplied product, formulation code and relevant safety data.
Do not transfer an SDS from a similar “vanilla,” “oud” or “clean cotton” fragrance merely because the scent name is similar. The relevant molecules, ingredient concentration ranges and classified components can change even when two materials smell alike.
Which fragrance oil products need distinct technical evaluation?
| Fragrance product | Important distinction |
|---|---|
| Undiluted fragrance concentrate | Assess the supplied mixture, its classified constituents, physical properties and recommended handling. |
| Carrier-diluted fragrance oil | Document carrier identity and dilution level; reassess, rather than copy, the concentrate's hazards. |
| Candle or soap fragrance ingredient | Evaluate the ingredient as supplied; the SDS is not automatically the SDS for a cured soap or finished candle. |
| Reed diffuser fragrance blend | Final base/carrier composition and liquid physical properties differ from the fragrance stock oil. |
| Body perfume oil | Finished skin-contact product and dilution require separate product-specific context. |
For a private-label fragrance line, maintain a change log by formula ID rather than scent marketing name alone. Small changes in constituent concentrations may matter near mixture classification thresholds, even if the appearance and fragrance character remain unchanged.
How sensitization, irritation and environmental hazards are evaluated
Fragrance raw materials can include classified skin sensitizers and other components relevant to irritation, acute toxicity or aquatic environmental hazards. Whether those classifications apply to the finished oil depends on the substance data, actual concentrations and the applicable mixture rules. There is no reliable universal hazard category for “fragrance oil.”
Begin with the current constituent SDSs, CAS/identity information and concentration information sufficient for evaluation. For the relevant health endpoints, consult OSHA's hazard classification criteria, including applicable concentration limits and mixture methods. Do not apply one blanket calculation to every endpoint or infer a finished-product pictogram from the fragrance name.
Keep the supporting rationale traceable: what supplier data were used, where an estimate or assumption was necessary and which classifications were ruled in or out. When proprietary composition limits the assessment, identify the missing technical data rather than representing the product as tested.
IFRA, COA and SDS: three separate documents
| Document | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Safety Data Sheet (SDS) | What chemical hazards and handling, storage, exposure and transport information apply to this supplied mixture? |
| IFRA conformity document | What fragrance-use limitations or conditions apply for stated end-use categories? |
| Certificate of Analysis (COA) | What batch-specific quality tests or specifications were checked? |
One document does not replace the other two. A fragrance seller may need all three for different commercial or technical requests. An SDS author can use reliable supporting data from these records while avoiding claims that an IFRA certificate alone determines OSHA or transport classification.
Fragrance oil SDS checklist before authoring
- Exact trade name, supplier/manufacturer identity, product code, version and intended downstream use.
- Constituent identities, CAS numbers when appropriate and ingredient weight percentages or defensible ranges.
- Current component SDSs, including classified sensitizers and relevant concentration limits.
- Physical data for the actual mixture when available, including flash point and density.
- Packaging, quantity, labeling, US importer/responsible-party details and a list of finished SKUs.
- Amazon FBA, TikTok Shop or distributor requests specifying the exact product sold.
A formula owner should ask the compounder or supplier for enough technical data to support classification, including confidential communication where needed. Do not assume “proprietary” means classification work can be skipped.
Amazon and TikTok documentation: ingredient versus finished product
Amazon and TikTok can request an SDS for a chemical-based listing, including bottles of fragrance oil intended for crafts, diffusers or home fragrance. The document should reflect the supplied bottle, blend and SKU. If the sold item is a finished reed diffuser liquid or alcohol-based perfume, a fragrance ingredient SDS alone may not accurately describe that finished product.
Compare the Amazon FBA SDS guide and TikTok Shop SDS requirements. For an existing rejection, use the Amazon rejection troubleshooting guide. Marketplace document acceptance is separate from chemical classification and is never automatic.

Frequently asked questions
Is an IFRA certificate the same thing as an SDS?
No. IFRA documentation addresses fragrance-use standards for specified applications; an SDS communicates hazards for the chemical mixture supplied. They support different decisions.
Can I use one SDS for multiple fragrance oil scents?
Do not assume so. Ingredient composition, classified sensitizers and other hazards can vary by scent. Grouping requires a substantiated product-specific evaluation and recipient acceptance.
Does adding carrier oil remove the hazard classification?
Not necessarily. Dilution changes concentrations, but applicable physical and health hazards still need to be assessed for the actual finished blend.
Is fragrance oil the same as perfume SDS for Amazon?
Not necessarily. A fragrance concentrate and ready-to-wear perfume often have different carriers, concentrations and intended uses. Submit the SDS that matches the sold product.
