Flat $120 SDS authoring · 24–48-hour delivery
Standard SDS authoring
USD $120 flat fee
24–48 hours
Per defined product and finished formulation, for standard English-language SDS authoring.
What the fee covers
Product-specific SDS
Defined 16-section document
Based on the technical information supplied for the finished product and its intended destination.
The standard 24–48-hour turnaround begins after complete product information is received and the authoring scope is confirmed. Additional laboratory testing, translations, regulatory localization or distinct formulations require separately agreed scopes. Marketplace acceptance is decided by the platform.
Before resubmitting a rejected Amazon FBA SDS, compare the actual rejection notice with the product name, brand, formula/SKU, revision date, sixteen sections and technical consistency. Correct the source problem rather than repeatedly uploading the same PDF.
First: find the exact rejection reason
Open the relevant product or compliance request in Seller Central and save the current message, ASIN, SKU, marketplace and submission history. Confirm whether Amazon asked for an SDS, an exemption sheet or a different compliance document. A rejected upload is not the same as a final dangerous-goods classification.
Amazon’s official dangerous goods documentation guidance explains that missing, inaccurate or conflicting information can block FBA products and directs sellers to Manage dangerous goods classification for document upload.
The 7-point Amazon SDS rejection checklist
| Check | What to verify | Action if it fails |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Product identity | The SDS product name corresponds to the item on the detail page. | Correct factual identification with the document author and listing owner; do not relabel an unrelated formulation. |
| 2. Brand/manufacturer | Brand and manufacturer information is internally accurate and corresponds to the listing. | Clarify responsible party and real product identity. |
| 3. Revision date | The document has a valid preparation/revision date and meets the current Amazon document-age rule. | Request a substantive review/update when required; changing the date alone is not a technical update. |
| 4. Sixteen sections | The SDS has the expected sixteen-section structure and enough applicable information. | Ask the author to address missing or unsupported fields. |
| 5. Hazard consistency | Section 2, physical data in Section 9 and transport statements in Section 14 do not contradict the evidence. | Review formulation, test information and classification rationale. |
| 6. Variation/SKU | Scents, strengths, kits, size or packaging variations are clearly within the documented scope. | Prepare an SKU-to-formula table; determine which variations need separate documentation/submissions. |
| 7. Uploaded document | Correct language, readable file, current product and correct ASIN upload path. | Replace the wrong file and keep the rejection record. |
These are diagnostic checks, not a substitute for the exact criteria shown in your Amazon account. A Seller Central moderator has publicly described cases involving absent brand details, scent variations and missing flash point/pH values: see example discussion.
Do not “fix” a rejection by inventing chemistry
A document stating a different flash point, pH, hazard category or UN identification just to satisfy a prompt can create serious inconsistency. Check whether the data are known, test-derived, literature-supported or genuinely not available. For a perfume, the finished mixture’s alcohol content and physical properties matter; for a cleaner, pH and corrosivity may matter. Record unresolved gaps.
OSHA classification and transport information require their own appropriate evidence; Amazon acceptance is not proof of hazard compliance, and Amazon rejection does not itself prove that the product is hazardous.
Product examples: where sellers encounter mismatch
| SKU example | Typical mismatch to investigate |
|---|---|
| Alcohol perfume 50 mL, citrus scent | SDS covers fragrance concentrate or a different perfume formula; flash-point evidence unclear. |
| Linen spray, lavender pump bottle | Uploaded file refers to aerosol product or another scent. |
| All-purpose cleaner, lemon RTU spray | Listing is ready-to-use but SDS describes undiluted concentrate. |
| Glass cleaner, ammonia-free | Submitted SDS describes prior ammonia-containing version. |
| Heavy-duty degreaser | Section 2 conflicts with Section 9 pH or Section 14 transport description. |
| Multi-scent bundle | SDS product/variant scope unclear for the ASIN detail page. |
Which evidence should you send to the SDS author?
- Amazon rejection reason (text or screenshot) and ASIN/SKU
- Submitted SDS PDF with revision date and any prior revisions
- Product name and brand shown on Amazon and on the retail package
- Actual formula and supplier component SDSs; fragrance variants or dilution differences
- Available finished-product measurements and packaging information
- Manufacturer/importer/responsible-party details and requested destination
If the formula has changed, tell the preparer. A corrected title alone does not cure outdated hazard information. Conversely, if the chemistry has not changed, first resolve whether Amazon’s mismatch is administrative rather than technical.
Choose the correct US product SDS path
For perfumes use perfume SDS USA; for home fragrances use room spray SDS USA. Cleaners should begin with the cleaning-product SDS guide, then check the all-purpose, glass cleaner or degreaser pages if relevant.
If you are also selling on TikTok Shop, review that platform separately: TikTok Shop SDS requirements and TikTok Shop SDS rejected.
When to revise, replace or escalate the Amazon document
Revise when the actual SDS contains factual errors, a changed formulation or missing hazard information. Replace when the uploaded file belongs to another item. Seek Seller Central clarification when the correct document still fails without a clear explanation. Keep a log of the version submitted, ASIN and response.
A seller should not assume that an exemption sheet is always available; Amazon decides which paperwork applies. Likewise, providing a valid SDS does not guarantee fulfillment approval, dangerous-goods classification or authorization to sell.
Need the SDS reviewed before resubmission?
Share the rejection text, the original SDS, actual finished product formula, label and SKU list. Professional US SDS authoring is advertised at USD $120 per product, per defined product; an existing-document review or multi-variant scope requires confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Amazon rejecting my safety data sheet?
Possible causes include mismatched product or brand identification, missing or inconsistent technical information, outdated revision dates, incorrect files, or product-specific classification questions. Check Amazon’s actual rejection message.
Should I change the hazard category so Amazon accepts the SDS?
No. SDS classification must follow the evidence and applicable rules. Correct factual errors and missing information; do not invent test values or alter hazards just to obtain approval.
Can I use one SDS for all my perfume scent variations?
Review each actual formulation. Amazon may request separate coverage or submissions for different variations, even where a base formula is similar.
If Amazon rejects an SDS, does the product automatically need a new one?
Not always. The problem may be a listing/brand mismatch, a missing revision date, inadequate evidence or an unrelated account/category requirement. Determine the issue before commissioning an update.
Will an authoring company guarantee Amazon will accept the file?
No. Amazon controls its dangerous-goods and product-compliance decisions. Technical document preparation can address identified deficiencies but cannot guarantee marketplace acceptance.
