What determines the hazard classification?
The product name alone cannot establish whether an admixture is corrosive, irritating, sensitising or non-hazardous. Composition, concentration, pH and reliable evidence must support the decision. The UNECE Globally Harmonized System provides the official framework for classifying physical, health and environmental hazards and communicating them through labels and safety data sheets.
A powder admixture should also be reviewed for dust exposure based on its actual ingredients and particle characteristics. Silica or cement-related warnings should not be added unless those materials are genuinely present in the supplied product.
Why doesn't a Technical Data Sheet replace the SDS?
The TDS normally describes dosage, setting time, workability, strength or application performance. The SDS communicates hazards, first aid, handling, storage, exposure controls and emergency response. Both can refer to the same product, but they serve different purposes.
